The Tyler S. Grant Commission Project 2021

Teachers can have such a positive impact on our lives and this impact is evident long after we leave their classroom. While many of our former educators may have helped mold our lives into what we are today, more times than not, there is that “one” that made a special contribution. Someone who still has an impact on our lives even today. For many of us, Randall Coleman is that “one!” Randall has changed the lives of thousands during his 38 year career as an educator, and many would like the opportunity to honor him for the tremendous impact he has made!

Tyler S. Grant, music educator and active composer based in the Atlanta area, and a former student of Randall’s, has agreed to compose a piece for wind band in honor of Randall. This composition will be 12-15 minutes in length and scheduled to premier later this year by Alabama Winds, conducted by Randall.

As you can imagine, creating a 12-15 minute piece is no small task and will take many hours of work. The standard rate for a commissioned piece is $1,000-$1,250 per minute of music. We have set a goal of $15,000 to compensate Tyler for his time.

You have the opportunity to be a part of this effort in honoring Randall Coleman with a donation to this commission project. All donors can choose to have their name included on the donor list that will be printed in the conductor’s score. Donors contributing $75 or more will receive a signed copy of the printed score. All donations are tax-deductible!

Thank you for your consideration and donation to help honor our teacher, mentor, and friend, Randall Coleman!
