Future Music Educator Senior Scholarship
Criteria and Application

Alabama Winds is proud to present the Annual Future Music Educator Scholarship awarded to a graduating senior planning on majoring in Music Education at any Alabama college or university! This one-time $500.00 scholarship will be presented at our annual Spring Concert. Information and the online application is available below. The scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria:

    • Must be woodwind, brass, or percussion player
    • Must have been enrolled in high school band for four years
    • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or an overall B average
    • Must complete and submit the application (this includes essay and letters of recommendation) by the deadline
    • Recommendation letters will be submitted online. Band directors and other teachers will receive separate login information to submit recommendations
    • Must be present at the concert to accept the award

The deadline for application submission is Monday, May 1, 2017. The scholarship winner will be announced and notified by Monday, May 15, 2017 and MUST be present at the Annual Alabama Winds Spring Concert on Monday, May 29, 2017, Homewood High School, Homewood, Alabama.

Summer Music Camp Scholarship
Criteria and Application

Alabama Winds is also proud to present the Annual Summer Music Camp Scholarships, donated from each of the universities listed below, to middle school and high school band students from grades 6 to 11. One of our missions is to foster and support the growth of music education of young people through various scholarships. Students may choose two music camps to apply for, bearing in mind they will only receive one if awarded. The scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria:

    • Must be woodwind, brass, or percussion player
    • Must have been enrolled in band at least one year
    • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or an overall B average
    • Must complete and submit the application (this includes essay and letters of recommendation) by the deadline
    • Recommendation letters will be submitted online. Band directors and other teachers will receive separate login information to submit recommendations
    • Scholarship winners may use the scholarship at one of the participating state of Alabama college music camps
    • Must be present at the concert to accept the award

One (1) middle school Summer Music Camp Scholarship and one (1) high school Summer Music Camp Scholarship will be awarded for each state university listed below. The Summer Music Camp Scholarships are in two different categories from the following state universities and will include:

RESIDENT CAMPER: All instruction, group activities, housing in university dormitories and three meals each day in the University Dining Halls.

COMMUTER CAMPER: All instruction and group activities, LUNCH each day (no breakfast or dinner). A COMMUTER CAMPER should be housed in the area with a relative 21 years old or older.

The deadline for application submission is Monday, May 1, 2017. The scholarship winner will be announced and notified by Monday, May 15, 2017 and MUST be present at the Annual Alabama Winds Spring Concert on Monday, May 29, 2017, Homewood High School, Homewood, Alabama.
